Avery Bardot steps off the plane in Rome, looking for a fresh start. She’s left behind a soon-to-be ex-husband in Boston and plans to spend the summer with her best friend Daisy, licking her wounds—and perhaps a gelato or two. But when her American-expat friend throws her a welcome party on her first night, Avery’s thrown for a loop when she sees a man she never thought she’d see again: Italian architect Marcello Bianchi. Marcello was the man—the one who got away. And now her past is colliding with her present, a present where she should be mourning the loss of her marriage and—hey, that fettuccine is delicious! And so is Marcello… Slipping easily into the good life of summertime in Rome, Avery spends her days exploring a city that makes art historians swoon, and her nights swooning over her unexpected what was old is new again romance. It’s heady, it’s fevered, it’s wanton, and it’s crazy. But could this really be her new life? Or is it just a temporary reprieve before returning to the land of twin-set cardigans and crustless sandwiches?

ROMAN CRAZY is romantic and swoon-worthy and I guarantee that half way through the book you'll be wanting to jump on a plane to Italy yourself! I am definitely already looking forward to the next adventure that Clayton and Bocci have to offer us!

ROMAN CRAZY tells of Avery, who in the very first page of the book, finds her husband in a very compromising position with his secretary. Not one to stand by cheaters, she files for divorce. But something else is weighing down on her - she doesn't know what to do with her life. Before marriage, she was an artist, yet she can't even recall the last time she picked up a pencil. To try and get her mind off of things and maybe even find herself again, Avery sets off on a getaway.

Leaving everything behind in Boston, Avery heads to Rome to stay with her BFF, Daisy. On her first night there, she is shocked to find someone she thought she'd lay eyes on again: Marcello, the handsome, Italian architect that got away. Things take an interesting turn as she and Marcello get to know one another again and they might just get that second chance after all.

As a fan of Clayton's previous works and a love for reading works from new authors, I was excited to see that this new series had both. I mean, seriously - how can you not be excited?! Clayton and Bocci delivered the jackpot with this book - full of the vivid scenery of Italy, mouth-watering descriptions of food and giving me a serious case of wanderlust, this book is all it's said to be and more.

With Avery, ah sweet lord, I loved this woman. Funny as all hell, feisty when she needed to be, a passion for her art and most importantly - she was relatable. She was flawed. She never had anything together and sometimes she was just a hot mess, but it's what made me love her even more. Marcello, oh boy did that man make me s-w-o-o-n! Charming, handsome and smart, he had it all. I rooted and cheered for Avery and Marcello and throughout the entire book I was smiling, laughing, swooning and occasionally wiping away a few tears.

One aspect of the story that really tugged at my heart was how throughout the book, Avery found herself again, without letting love or the thought of a man cloud her mind. She focused on herself and her passion for a something she once loved and it really made me happy to see how she developed in the book.

ROMAN CRAZY is a novel about second chances and new opportunities. It's about finding yourself, and believing that anything is possible. This book is romantic and swoon-worthy and I guarantee that half way through the book you'll be wanting to jump on a plane to Italy yourself. I am definitely already looking forward to the next adventure that Clayton and Bocci have to offer us!
